Gathered Goodness: Why Not Me??

Finding purpose in the storm and the sunshine.

When the Storm Hits
Most of us ask, “Why me?” when life gets hard. But this week, I had to flip that question into something new: “Why not me?”
Gathered goodness isn’t only found in the laughter and abundance. Sometimes it’s hidden in the lessons we learn during the storm — when both the highs and lows collide.
A Week of Highs and Lows
This week came with both.
On the high side, I celebrated becoming a Wayfair Creator. This milestone feels like such a natural extension of who I am — faith, fellowship, and flowers. It’s one of those “why not me?” moments that reminds me I’m right where I need to be.
But there were lows too. No flower orders for weeks. Cold DMs that never got a reply. DoorDash runs that wore me out physically and mentally. Job applications that went unanswered. It’s been heavy.
And yet… there was still goodness to be gathered.
Equipped for the Storm
Here’s what I had to remind myself: I am a natural-born creative. I was made by the Creator, so I’m anointed to create.
So why not me to carry this storm? Why not me to grow through it? Why not me to use what’s already in my hands?
Storms don’t strip us. They reveal us. Many times before the storm even arrives, God has already given us the equipment we need. The challenge is learning how to use it once the rain starts to fall.
Confirmation Arrives
God never leaves me hanging. This week, I went to a journaling session at church. A woman stood up and said: “Why not me?”
That was it. Full circle confirmation. God whispering: You’re not just surviving this storm. You’re built for it.
The Gathered Goodness in Hard Seasons
Gathered goodness isn’t only about dinner parties, laughter with friends, or flowers on the table. It’s also found in the storms, the stripping away, and the rebuilding.
The goodness is knowing you are equipped. The goodness is realizing every season — even the hard ones — brings you closer to God, closer to purpose, and closer to the table He has prepared for you.
Why Not Me?
So I’m not asking “Why me?” anymore. I’m declaring: “Why not me?”
Why not me to endure the storm and still gather goodness? Why not me to embody faith, fellowship, and flowers — even when business feels slow? Why not me to create tables where others can gather, even while I’m learning to trust my own process?
The storm doesn’t cancel the goodness. It gathers it.
